Abstract

|
Carcinoma of the extrahepatic bile ducts may be classified as papillary, nodular, scirrhous constricting to their macroscopic characteristics. Among these, the papillary carcinomas are polypoid lesions that grow exophytically into the duct lumen
and
often produce duct obstruction before they invade the wall of the duct. For this reason, they are more favorable than the other forms and offer the greatest chance of curative resection. Hence we report two cases of papillary adenocarcinoma of
extrahepatic bile ducts for which curative surgery was performed successfully.(Korean J Gastroenterol 1994 ; 879-884)
